FUNERAL

my mom told me that one of her fondest family memories is when her grandma died and the whole family got together. that's kind of an odd thing to say so you explained that sadly, sometimes a death is the only thing that brings people together. you get to see people you haven't seen in a while. you get share memories and tell stories about your loved one. 

and now, i understand what she meant. 

i got to see people i hadn't seen in years. i heard amazing stories about my grandpa that i had never heard. i got to hear my aunts and uncle share their love and admiration for their father. the grandchildren got to share stories while we ate lunch and i laughed so hard i cried. 

i'm so glad i was able to fly to utah and spend time with the people i love.
